Fully serviced, which seems to be the norm these days, this 1960s Dansette Tempo portable record player comes with a low starting price. That certainly isn't the norm.
Where this one also differs is that the original covering and casing hasn't been overhauled. It is still in its original green and cream colour combination, with a few 'party scars here and there', while the corners show a little wear too. That's the passage of time for you.
Outside of that, the actual player has been overhauled, with the valve amplifier stripped and all capacitors, resistors, rectifier and front controls replaced with new, old stock parts, re-wired where necessary and a new, three core double insulated and earthed mains cable and plug fitted. The Garrard 'Autoslim' record changer has been thoroughly de-greased and re-lubricated as necessary back to manufacturers specifications and works with 'precision and accuracy'.
In addition, a modern stereo compatible pick up cartridge and new stylus have been fitted and a copy of the turntable manufacturers instructions will be supplied with the player.
So a little rough on the outside, but perhaps that just adds to the character. The player itself sounds spot on, as does the current price of £9.99.
