Reproduction Victorian Tiles

William-de-morgan-animal-tiles

In the quest for modernity, thousands of homes were probably striped of their original Victorian tiling some time ago, but with the popularity of roll-top baths showing no signs of abating, you may want to add these Reproduction Victorian Tiles to your bathroom to complete the look.

The tiles are recreations of genuine 19th Century designs. Pictured here are animal theme collection which were designed by arts and crafts pottery designer William De Morgan in 1879 and include an owl, pelican, fish, antelope and dodo in green. There is also a set depicting bird in blue created by Pre-Raphaelite architect and designer Philip Webb in 1859 for William Morris’ Red House and some blue floral designs by Morris himself.

The animal collection cost £27.50 per tile and the others cost £17.95 each from Robert Opie Collection. They also sell period-style plain tiles for £5.95 each because you probably wouldn’t want to tile your wall completely with dodos!

Petal Coffee Table from Made

Black_1_1

The Petal Coffee Table has a distinctive retro design, with a table top made up of nine curved squares, but what is perhaps more unusual about the product is the way that it is being sold.

It is available to buy through the website Made who specialise in offering cheaper versions of designs available elsewhere. They aim “revolutionise the furniture retail market” and describe themselves as “idealists” and “children of the revolution”, which made me smile (and left me with the T-Rex song in my head for the rest of the day). They are able to do this by producing the items in batches, so you only have a limited period to buy each one. The deadline for orders for the square Petal Coffee Table is just four days away, so you’ll need to move quickly to benefit from the reduction in cost from £389 to £149.

Made also its visitors to decide which designs will go into production in the future by voting from a selection on its website, so even if you don’t want to buy the Petal Table, it might be worth seeing if they have anything you would like to see made real.

Place your order for the Petal Table at Made before time runs out.

Giant Lego Storage

Pic_1577_2

We have previously featured Lego-like boxes, but these Giant Lego Storage Boxes are produced under license from the toy company itself and sold exclusively by Store.

Like the regular Lego bricks, these can be clicked together to make something bigger. The bricks are available in large (with eight knobbly bits) and medium (with four knobbly bits) and in choice of six colours. As well as two sizes of bricks, the range also include a Giant Lego Man Storage Head, which you can see lurking at the back of pictured here. Whilst I love the boxes, I’m not altogether convinced by the head, finding it rather disturbing, but I can see that it might appeal to some people.

The boxes cost £26 for the large and £17 for the medium, And if it is to your taste, the storage head costs £20. Pre-order them online from Store now for delivery in mid-August.

Beach Hut Mugs

Beachhutmug

Beach Huts have become a symbol of the quintessential British holiday, but images of them can either take on a melancholic air of a seaside town in decline or a cheerful reminder of happy summer holidays. Firmly in the latter jolly category are these Beach Hut Mugs.

The fine bone china mug is decorated with a row of three stripey huts, in a choice of dark blue, pink, red or pale blue. The mugs are sold individually so you can mix n match or co-ordinate as you like.

They cost £9.25 from Florestine, a website that specialises in seaside-inspired designs.
