Razor Pocket Mod kids retro scooter

Pocketmod

We’ve already covered the Zoomer Scooter and the Balance Scooter – now here’s another option if you want to get your kids scootering at an early age – the Razor Pocket Mod scooter.

The makers describe it as "reminiscent of the classic Mod-era Italian Vespa". I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s certainly got a hint of a vintage scoot, as well as 12-inch pneumatic tyres, rear suspension, a top speed of 15mph and up to 10 miles riding from a single charge.

Sadly, it’s only available in a girly pink. Available now for ages 12+, it retails for £249.99.

Evel Knievel replica motorcycle helmet

Evel_helmet
For the casual Evel Knievel fan, there’s the Evel Knievel Stunt Set toy, for the obsessive fan, there’s the Evel Knievel replica helmet.

An exact replica of the great man’s headwear, it’s hand-painted onto an original pre-1980 helmet and detailed using real gold leaf. An actual Evel autograph and picture of Evel signing the helmet, along with a padded helmet bag complete the set.

And you just know it isn’t going to be cheap. It’s priced at $1299 (around £670) and comes with a certificate of authenticity to justify the outlay.

Retro motoring with the Morgan Aero 8

Morgan_aero_8

Morgan is the oldest privately-owned motor company in the world, working very much at its own pace and slow to bring in new designs. After all, if it’s what the customers already want, why change?

The most recent design is the Aero 8, introduced in 2000 and the first new design since 1968. And still maintaining a styling that look nearer 1928. However, that look does hide a very modern BMW 4.4 litre V8 engine, which can do 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 160mph, with the added "thrill" of no anti-lock braking, no traction control and no airbags. Not to mention the aluminium and wood chassis.

Want one? Well, you’ll have to wait around a year for a new one and pay out something like £55,000. Or alternatively, you can pick up a used model. Shop around and you should be able to find a 2001 model with around 5,000 on the clock (these are low-use cars) for around £35,000 from a dealer or £32,000 privately.

jorg&olif Dutch City Bike

Dutchbike
Why change a classic design? That’s the thinking of jorg&olif, which has produced its Dutch City Bike without any major changes to the Dutch classic.

In fact, the only thing that has changed is the gears – the bike is available as a 1-speed. 3-speed or 8-speed. Order one and it’s delivered part-built to your local bike shop, who will finish off the construction.

It comes with front and rear lights, wheel lock & keys, bicycle pump, chain guard & coat guard, fenders & mudflap, back rack and strap, central kickstand and traditional Dutch bell. Prices start at $795 (around £400).

Sadly, only available in the US and Canada. For those of us in Europe, it’s probably just as cheap to ship in an original.

Original 1960s Batmobile up for sale

Batmobile

Yes, you have read it right – you could be the proud owner of the original Batmobile.

Ok, it wasn’t the only one, there were four made in total by custom car man George Barris for the 60s TV series, but it’s still quite a catch. It goes up for auction at the end of February at Coys auction house. But before you slip on the cape and mask, make sure you have plenty of cash in your pocket – it’s estimated to sell for around £75,000.

Condor reissues classic Paris Galibier bicycle

Condor_bike

Granted for most people a classic bike is the Chopper, but for the enthusiast, it’s probably something like the Paris Galibier bicycle, which has been reissued by leading maker Condor.

It was originally designed by Harry Rensch in 1947, at the time the most advanced lightweight bike around, it also offered greater alignment and more rigidity than the more orthodox frames of the time.

Recently chosen by Wallpaper magazine as its Bike Of The Year, you can pick up the frame and fork from around £1,200 – so it’s very much for enthusiasts – and rich ones at that.
