Space Invaders Tights by James Willis

Spaceinvaders

There's few more instantly recognisable 80s icons than those ubiquitous video game baddies, Space Invaders. Making an always fun and good looking talking point in fashion, designer James Willis has gotten on the bandwagon with these Space Invaders Tights.

An ideal way to use the print to unusual effect, the tights are emblazoned with the characters all over, in the original bright colour palette. Backed with dark navy, the design is truly faithful to its inspiration.

They're available online from Black Milk and will set you back $80, though popularity means they'll fly off the virtual shelves so you'd better be quick.

Navy Stripe Blazer by Dorothy Perkins

Navystripe

Blazers are a staple fashion item that have never gone out of
favour, constantly being reinvented for every era since they made the
crossover from suits to everyday jackets. This Navy Stripe Blazer from Dorothy Perkins is a great choice to gain a little retro chic in everyday outerwear.

Taking a classic pinstripe combined with timeless structure, the
blazer is feminised with a tailored waistline and single button
fastening. Navy cotton fabric gives this a feel of a late sixties or
early seventies piece, the perfect time when menswear items crossed
over into ladieswear. The lining's floral print gives some extra retro
appeal, appearing on the cuffs so it doesn't stay hidden.

It's available now from Dorothy Perkins for £35.

Classico 70s-style desk chair

Classico

Not unlike the Hamilton Chair at Habitat, the Classico desk chair offers a bit more comfort for a little more cash.

The frame is much the same, that chrome cantilever shape reminiscent of the 1970s. But unlike the Hamilton, this one has more bulk to the actual seating, throwing in some matching vinyl armrests too.

Sold full assembled, it sells for £129.

Angie Lewin Hedgerow fabric new at St Jude’s

Hedgerow Lewin

New to St Jude's gallery is this Hedgerow fabric designed by Angie Lewin. We've featured a umber of St Jude's fabrics before such as Alice Stevenson's Treehouse design or their Kensal Rise collaboration with Old Town. Like those two designs, Hedgerow has a very British retro aesthetic, using a 1950s-style depiction of natural forms.

Angry Children cushions featuring 60s and 70s architecture

Angry Children cushions

If you are a regular reader of this site, you'll be well aware of the work of People Will Always Need Plates. For a new twist on the architecture on homeware theme, how about their German equivalent in the form of these Angry Children cushions featuring 60s and 70s Berlin buildings?

The Angry Children range is the work of s.wert designs and is so-called because they are angry about building fronts that have disappeared or are about to disappear. For example, the cushion on the right shows Ahronblatt, or 'Mapleleaf' building: built in East Berlin between 1970-3 and demolished in 2001.

There are seven different designs to choose from, all featuring buildings dating from the sixties and seventies, including the Haus der Statistik design shown on the left. Each cushion cover costs 33 euros.

Dwell 60s-style Twist stem dining table

Dining

When is a Tulip Table not a Tulip Table? When the frame is on an angle and it's being sold by Dwell as the Twist stem dining table.

It's every bit the Tulip copy, keeping the same type of base and similar proportions, but that 'Twist' stem, which sets it off at an angle, gives it a degree of originality.

Take your pick from a glossy black or white finish, with the table seating between 6 and 8 people, selling for £395 from the end of January.
