Jielde Signal retro-styled floor lamp

Signal

The French company Jielde has been making lighting since 1950 – and the Jielde Signal floor lamp looks like it could well have come from the original range.

This vintage-style design is constructed in steel, coloured in a wide range of colours (many considerably brighter than the black above), using articulated armed to offer the right light for your task and a 40w bulb to deliver it.

Not the easiest thing to find in the UK, but you can pick it up at the Aram Store and online at the Conran Shop, price around the £270 mark.

Greetings cards featuring classic British buildings from Obiko

Obiko cards

From the De La Warr Pavilion to the Post Office Tower, Obiko's range of greeting cards includes many of the British buildings that regularly feature in various forms on this site.

Obiko are a Hastings based company and their seaside location clearly has a strong influence on their designs. The buildings shown are actually part of a series called 'seagull sites'. Happily, they're favourites with us, as well as the gulls, and also show Battersea Power Station and Brighton's Palace Pier, amongst others.

Each card is executed in the same delicate style and costs £2.90.

Louis Poulsen PH Gold Artichoke suspension lamp for the filthy rich

Gold_poulsen

We though the glass version was pricey, but that seems like a bargain compared to the Louis Poulsen PH Gold Artichoke suspension lamp.

PH of course stands for Poul Henningsen, the designer of the original lamp 50 years back for the Langeliniepavillonen restaurant on the Copenhagen waterfront – those leaves becoming an icon of 20th century design.

This ultra-expensive version is a limited edition of just 50, all numbered, 840mm in diameter and with leaves gilded in 24-carat gold over the original copper surface, the finished with a clear varnish. How expensive? Well, only Premier League footballers and Lotto winners need apply – it's £100,000.

Karlsson Spider wall clock

Karlsson spider clock

We've previously featured all kinds of attractive retro clocks that have come courtesy of Karlsson. This Spider Clock is no exception to the rule.

It features chrome tips that radiate out from the clock face, each covered in brightly coloured balls. In fact, it's quite similar to George Nelson's classic Vitra Ball clock.

However, the Karlsson version is available on a budget, costing just £35.

Fritz Hansen 60s-style Space lounge chair by Jehs + Laub

Space

A modern design, but the perfect seat for any wannabe James Bond villain – the Fritz Hansen Space lounge chair by Jehs + Laub.

Vert 1960s in look, this easy chair is 'designed from the idea of the comfortable feeling of sitting in a hand' would you believe. Not sure what sitting in a hand feels like, but we can only assume it's fairly pleasant. In terms of specifics, it offers a lacquered shell, leather upholstery in a choice of three colours and a base of lacquered steel matching your colour choice.

Prices start at just over £1,800.
