Karlsson retro disk wall clock

Karlsson retro disk clock

You can rely on Karlsson to produce a good looking clock and their retro disk wall clock is no exception.

It's a very simple clock made up of metallic disks, displayed in a flower-like pattern around the time piece. The shape of the disks combined with the look of the polished steel gives it something of a sixties look.

Certain to add a touch of glamour to any wall, the clock sells for £49.99

Kundalini space age Atomium outdoor light

Atomium

The Kundalini Atomium is one of our favourite modern-day retro designs, either as the suspension version or as a floor light. But now there's another version of the space age gem – the Kundalini Atomium outdoor light.

Yes, you can express your love of late 60s, early 70s design in the garden too, with a rotational-moulded polyethylene diffuser keeping things good for the elements, while six light sources fixed on steel coil springs guarantee plenty of brightness.

But at £423 each, would you risk leaving it in your garden?

Lego wallets from ColorbyNumbers

Lego wallets

All in all, it's just another brick in the wall(et) … yes, Lego continues to inspire designers to produce new, fun products like these Lego wallets by ColorbyNumbers

The wallet pictured is made from the brightly coloured bricks, stuck together and mounted on a fairly substantially (6.6 by 9.5cm) sized wallet. I especially like the single brick covering the zip pull. As they are handmade, the design will vary from wallet to wallet. This piece of childish fun costs £20. Or, if the fact the bricks are stuck together stifles your creativity, you may be interested in the wallets they sell that are just covered with the baseplates: you can then decorate them with your own bricks and creations.

Alternatively, steal your kid's bricks, buy some glue and have a go at making your own…

Stig Lindberg Aster porcelain

GustavRedAster

You'll probably recognise Stig Lindberg's Bersa porcelain design with its distinctive leaf motif. However, Gustavsberg also have reissued another of Lindberg's works from the 1970s, the Aster design.

Looking equally as Scandinavian cool, the cup features a large floral pattern in either red or blue against white. And, like the Bersa, it doesn't come cheap either. A coffee cup will set you back the equivalent of  $80.

Dieter Rams 10 principles of good design poster for Vitsoe

Rams10

If you watched the 'never quite as good as it could be' Culture Show on the BBC last night, you'll have seen Dieter Rams being interviewed in relation to his Less Is More exhibition at the Design Museum and discussing his 10 principles of good design. If you missed it, you can now get those principles in poster form.

Designed by Dieter Rams and Bibliotheque for Vitsoe, it's a reduced size version of a large plan on display at the exhibition, perfect for anyone considering if their design is up to the mark in the modern era, as well as for lovers of Rams' own industrial designs of the 1950s to the 1980s.

This version of the poster is sized at 841mm x 1189mm, available either directly from Vitsoe (makers of Rams' iconic 606 shelving system, dating back to 1960) or from the Design Museum Shop, priced at £25.

Mondrian furniture stickers by Boym

Mondrian

We've featured many Mondrian-inspired furnishings over the months and years, the majority adding a significant premium for the artistic leaning. So we're quite pleased to see these Mondrian furniture stickers by Boym.

Details are thin on the ground, but we do know that the block artwork, inspired by Mondrian's work of the 1920s, is available as vinyl stickers for chairs, tables and cabinets. What we don't know is size – so we'll presume they're standard, so you can cut them down to fit the shape of your furnishing. Or make sure you have furniture sized like the items above – where you have to admit, they look superb.

Prices start at £36.80.
