Set of three hair pins from Vintage Lucy’s

Il_570xN.208100336
Remember your school days when pretty hair pins ruled your hair? Now with this set of three hair pins from Vintage Lucy's it's become cool to relive those days.

Although these are strictly speaking for kids, we love their playful retro style. These three chic pins are each adorned with a funky punk-inspired design so depending on your mood and the occasion, you can chose from the cherry, flower or skull.

They're made in America and cost $12 (£8.91) but you can get them delivered in the UK for £2.55 p&p from Etsy.

Barneby Gates Promenade wallpaper

Barneby-gates-promenade-wallpaper
More quirky wallpaper, this time courtesy of Barneby Gates and their Promenade design.

You may remember their This Other Eden wallpaper, which appeared to be composed of old photographs. This design also has a vintage appearance, looking like a traditional toile design. Peer a bit closer (there's a close-up over the page to help you) and you'll see an extraordinary range of characters, based on changing fashions of the twentieth-century. So you get a fully decked out teddy boy talking to a flapper boy, or a punk addressing an Edwardian lady. The characters promenade even takes them past iconic temples to fashion such as the Biba store.

The design is great fun and is sure to be a talking point for many more years. It costs £65 a roll.

Diva and Punk Washing Up Brushes

5533400371100_Black_m1
Whilst Urban Outfitters in the USA offers some great furniture, the UK store continues to focus on novelties, although some of them can be quite fun such as the Diva and Punk Washing Up Brushes.

The Diva is a glamorous lady who looks like a member of a 60s girl group, with her hairdo being made from sponge for cleaning. The Punk version is a punk rocker very much in the style of those beloved of Carnaby Street postcards, with bright pink hair, which are handily made of brush bristles.  Thankfully, mod hairstyles don't lend themselves so readily to this sort of product.

The washing up brushes cost £8 each from Urban Outfitters.

Newgate God Save The Queen Clock

God-save-the-queen

Newgate has produced a number of retro clocks, usually inspired by old-fashioned railway station clocks, but this is the first one I’ve seen that is influenced by punk.

The God Save the Queen Clock doesn’t feature Jamie Reid’s iconic artwork for the Sex Pistols’ record, but does have a punk aesthetic, with paint splattered patterns clashing with the vintage-style numerals. The clock is made from glass and measures 50cm in diameter.

It costs £44.95 from Colloco.

Punk-inspired tea mugs at Make International

Tea1

Even a quick brew can be rebellious if it comes in one of these punk-inspired tea mugs at Make International.

Choose from phrases inspired by the Sex Pistols (one above, one over the page) and The Clash, or if your vintage is later, Nirvana with Smells Like Tea Spirit.

All are described as 'bucket' mugs, which presumably means plenty of room for your tea and if anyone is in any doubt about your punk credentials, there's even a safety pin thrown in for good measure. Grab one now for £12.
